The NetHeads 2013 Stitcher Awards Nomination Guide

It’s nomination season again for the Stitcher Awards and we at NetHeads thought we’d provide you with a handy little nomination guide in case you wanted to help NetHeads, and the other SModCo and extended Family podcasts, get their names on the list of finalists for this year’s awards. It’s kind of like one of those issues guides the newspapers print up come voting season, however ours isn’t impartial at all and doesn’t hold anywhere near the importance. These are also just the opinions of the NetHeads and not suggested nor endorsed by anyone at any of the podcasts mentioned.

BEST OVERALL SHOW

OK, we can’t guide you here because it’s really up to you. We feel that the pods that really apply to this category are Tell ‘Em Steve-DaveSModcastFat Man on Batman and Hollywood Babble-On. You’ll just have to decide for yourself.

MOST ORIGINAL SHOW

Hands down we feel this has to be Fat Man on Batman. A podcast that is dedicated not to a specific work or series a character in it, it’s a podcast about the character and the effect that character has had on the life of one man. This isn’t just a podcast, it’s a peek into the inner-workings of the man who hosts it.

BEST INTERVIEW OF THE YEAR

Again, this category has to be a fan’s choice. SModcast had interviews this year with Felicia Day, Lisa Kudrow, Mario Joyner, David Choe, Russell Brand, Jim Norton, Trevor Fehrman and Renée Humphrey, Kevin’s assistant Meghan Quinlan, Aisha Tyler, Mitch Albom, Russell Brand and Rian Johnson. Fat Man on Batman is all about amazing guests and amazing interviews. You’ll have to decide.

BEST NEW SHOW

Edumacation with Kevin Smith and Andy McElfresh is like a breath of McElfresh air and never ceases to amuse us. The new (non-SMod) What Say You? podcast with Impractical Jokers Sal Vulcano and TESD regular Brian Quinn  is also a new and noteworthy show of this year. The choice is yours.

BEST NEWS AND POLITICS

Last Week on Earth with Ben Gleib is all about the news and politics on a weekly basis.

BEST MUSIC COMMENTARY

The front runner in the SModCo family is Get Up On This with hosts Jensen Karp and Matt Robinson. They bring far more than the music, but the music they bring is what you’ll be wanting.

BEST EDUCATION AND LEARNING

Do we really have to tell you? You can’t have Edumacation without education. I’ve learned a lot from it. You should, too.

BEST COMEDY

Last year Hollywood Babble-On won for Film and Television. Guess what category they don’t have this year? Because of this and because of the regular laughs we get every week from the show we have to say that Hollywood Babble-On is the best SModCo bet for comedy.

BEST FOOD AND WINE

Well, SModCo has one in house foodie so one of his shows should be in this category. The NetHeads recommendation for this category is I Sell Comics.

BEST STORYTELLING

How do you choose for this one? SModcast is nothing but the guys telling stories and making up stories to one another. I’d have to say it’s the one to go with.

BEST TECHNOLOGY

NetHeads, of course.

BEST SOCIETY AND CULTURE

Kelly Carlin’s Waking from the American Dream is the best podcast we have that rocks society and culture.

BEST ENTERTAINMENT AND POP CULTURE

Last year Tell ‘Em Steve-Dave won this category and the boys haven’t let up. Let’s help them take it two in a row, shall we?

That’s our take on it, folks. Be sure to head on over to the Stitcher Awards page and nominate your favorite SModCo shows.
